Limestone as a timeless transitional material, bridging and unifying the old and the new.
Positioned along Sydney Harbour, this remarkable residence uses Mount Gambier limestone to create a home that feels both grounded and sculptural, designed to resemble the form of a vessel from the water.
Custom limestone pieces measuring 900 mm long by 330 mm high were produced specifically for the project, combining solid 100 mm limestone blocks with precision-cut 35 mm cladding panels. The large-format stonework creates a calm, expansive appearance that reinforces the architectural scale of the home.

A recessed entry framed entirely in limestone leads to an oversized glass doorway, creating a dramatic arrival experience while showcasing the natural warmth and texture of the stone. Limestone continues throughout the property across fireplaces, feature walls and landscaped garden areas, giving the entire home a unified material palette.

The combination of soft limestone tones with copper downpipes and detailing creates striking visual contrast, particularly against the coastal light of Sydney Harbour. Over time, the natural ageing of both materials will further enhance the character of the home.
