Country River Home
A full-scale expression of solid limestone construction in a rural context.
Located in country Victoria, this residence is constructed almost entirely in double-skin Mount Gambier limestone blockwork. The project demonstrates the structural and architectural capacity of natural stone when used as the primary building material rather than a surface finish.
The double-skin masonry system forms a continuous limestone envelope, delivering both structural mass and thermal stability. This allows the building to maintain a naturally moderated internal environment across seasonal extremes, while expressing a clear and honest material language externally.

Executed by the artisans at Wilmoore Allstone, the limestone continues beyond the façade into the interior planning of the home. Internal fireplaces, feature walls, and the kitchen cove are all formed in solid stone, extending the material logic throughout the residence without transition to applied finishes.

Paired with restrained timber detailing, the composition balances weight and warmth, resulting in a home defined by permanence, continuity, and material clarity.
