Mount Duneed House
A study in material honesty and understated residential architecture.
Mount Duneed House is a privately designed and built residence that prioritises simplicity, durability and material clarity. The architecture is intentionally restrained, allowing proportion, natural light and material selection to define the character of the home.
As noted by Jade Johansson (Custom Homes Australia), “There’s a particular kind of calm that comes from being surrounded by natural stone… an understated presence that only handcrafted limestone can deliver.”
The home is constructed using double-skin Mount Gambier limestone structural walls, forming the core of the building’s thermal and structural performance. Smooth Plainface limestone blocks are expressed continuously from exterior to interior, reinforcing a strong sense of material continuity throughout the residence.

This solid limestone construction is paired with timber-lined ceilings, polished aggregate concrete floors and minimal interior finishes. Together, these materials establish a grounded and enduring spatial language, defined by texture, mass and natural variation rather than applied decoration.
