Bellarine Peninsula Beach House

A coastal residence defined by material restraint and environmental response.
Designed as a contemporary coastal home, this residence employs solid Mount Gambier limestone blockwork as the primary grounding material across both interior and exterior spaces. The use of Plainface limestone establishes a continuous masonry language, allowing the built form to sit quietly within its coastal setting.
The architecture is composed around a restrained material palette of limestone, spotted gum timber, and polished concrete. Together, these materials create a consistent spatial language where structure, surface and landscape are closely connected.

Limestone massing is expressed as both enclosure and thermal structure, forming the base of the home’s passive environmental strategy. Its continuity from outdoor living areas into interior zones reinforces the sense of permanence and stability within a coastal context.

Delivered by Sargent Builders, the project demonstrates a disciplined approach to residential construction, where natural stone is used not as decoration, but as a defining architectural element.
