Limestone Estate

Located in Geelong, this landmark limestone residence stands as one of the most ambitious private homes ever constructed in Australia. Built by Malishev Homes using premium Mount Gambier limestone from Bruhn Limestone, the three-storey estate showcases the scale, craftsmanship, and versatility possible with solid natural stone construction.
Featuring one hundred hand-carved round limestone columns, grand curved walls, monumental stone entrances, and matching limestone stables, the residence required more than five kilometres of custom limestone mouldings throughout the project. Every component was individually shaped and hand-finished on site by Wilmoore Allstone, including intricate carvings, bespoke mouldings, curved architectural elements, and structural stone features.

The project demanded an extraordinary level of coordination between the builder, stonemasons, architects, and project team. Wilmoore Allstone worked closely alongside the design and construction teams throughout development to refine proportions, detailing, and stone execution methods, helping shape the final architectural outcome into a truly one-of-a-kind residence.
More than simply a large home, the project demonstrates the enduring capability of traditional stonemasonry at a monumental scale. The extensive use of solid Mount Gambier limestone allowed the design to incorporate classical architectural forms rarely seen in contemporary Australian construction, including oversized arches, carved columns, deep mouldings, and sweeping curved stone walls.
The natural variation and warmth of the limestone soften the immense scale of the residence, giving the home a sense of permanence, craftsmanship, and old-world grandeur.
