The Portico House

Classical proportion expressed in natural limestone.
Designed by Christopher Doyle Architects, The Portico House draws on the enduring principles of traditional European architecture through symmetry, proportion and a restrained material palette. The residence establishes a calm and permanent architectural presence within its streetscape.
Bruhn supplied premium Mount Gambier limestone for the home’s double-skin masonry facade, curved blockwork and custom classical detailing. Crafted by Sutherland Stone Construction and built by Royale Constructions, the residence features tapered limestone columns, carved capitals, plinths and deep horizontal shadow lines that reinforce the home’s disciplined geometry.

A sweeping curved central form anchors the facade, bringing softness and depth to the composition while showcasing the versatility and precision of natural limestone construction.
The limestone detailing continues internally, where solid blockwork grounds the home’s sculptural curved staircase and creates a seamless connection between exterior architecture and interior spaces.

The Portico House demonstrates the enduring value of authentic natural stone — combining structural performance, refined craftsmanship and timeless architectural character in a residence designed to last for generations.
